#2 For every percentage point the Medicare tax is raised on working people, government employees pay double and elected representatives pay 10-fold.

#4 the proposal is an new 0.9% tax on income over $200k (of $250k for a couple filing jointly)

this would probably increase the medicare receipts by at least 70%

of course it would hit states like NY, MA, MD, NJ and CA hard because of the number of people in this income group
