#3 We facilitated these monsters.We organised them, trained them, supplied them with advanced arms,encouraged them, used them as a political tool to defeat the Soviet Empire.we gave them the tools to destroy the soviet union and they turned them on us.We got our political revenge against the USSR for the vietnam war.Sometimes I wonder if we had not been better off to have just allowed the soviets to kill off the islamic militants?

#4 That's not quite right, Woozle. The Afghans who fought the Soviets were a broad national movement including many who later became allies of the West (remember the role of the Northern alliance in toppling the Taliban).
