#1 The Afghan army seems to be developing nicely.

#3 The Afghan Army has progressed from "spray and pray" to "sight and shoot". It's evident in the number of talibunnies killed after "ambushing" an Afghanistani patrol. Give them another couple of years and another 40,000 troops, and they can even defeat Pakistan. That knowledge may be behind the improved training of taliban troops by their Pakistani handlers.
