#2 Ronald X. Reed Jr., 24, was shot in the back and died at the scene

If Ronald X. Reed Jr. is black, then that security guard now has some huge legal problems.

One cousin told the other to shoot the guard, who got up and fired shots at both men

In Texas, the police wouldn't even bother indicting you in this situation. Simply making a credible threat of deadly force is enough to respond with deadly force. Don't know about Wisconsin.

#4 Looks like Vidal has even more problems...

A 22-year-old man who was shot by a security guard while robbing a check cashing business on Milwaukee's northwest side last week has been charged with felony murder in connection with the death of his cousin, who was also shot by the guard during the robbery. If convicted, Vidal D. Mason faces up to 35 years' imprisonment, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.

Ah, yes. Ye Olde Joint Venture...

The security guard will not be charged, prosecutors have determined.

Mason and Ronald X. Reed Jr., 24, were wearing masks and armed with handguns when they entered Check Into Cash, 3906 N. 76th St., on Wednesday afternoon, the complaint says. The firearms were actually realistic-looking BB guns, a police spokeswoman said.

Reed put his gun to the security guard's head and ordered him to the ground while Mason pointed a gun at the store's manager and demanded money, according to the complaint. While Reed had his gun to the guard's head, the guard grabbed his own pistol and shot both Reed and Mason, who was now coming toward him, the complaint says.

Reed ran from the store with the guard in pursuit and collapsed in an alley behind the building, where he was pronounced dead, according to the complaint. Mason also ran and called a friend for a ride to a hospital, the complaint says.

An autopsy showed Reed died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the complaint says. Police said last week that he had been shot in the back.

The Milwaukee County district attorney's office has determined that the guard's actions were justified, according to Deputy District Attorney Kent Lovern.
