#4 The "Capitalist" is the taxpayer w/ a $.03/kWh subsidy. A 2MW turbine operating at 30% efficiency generates 5.3 MWh of electricity. That generates a subsidy $160K/year for the first 5 years (accelerated 5 year depreciation) and $107-133K/year thereafter for every 2MW wind turbine. Take a wind farm w/ 1000 turbines and that's a large chunk of government cheese, even in Obamaland. Plus hidden subsidies because wind must be fully backed up by standby power plants and power transmission cables must be heavier and longer than more predictable thermal power plants.
