#1 If you are not going to sell any cars except to UAW members (it's a requirement to park in the lots at the plant), you don't need no dealers. Don't need no advertising, neither.

#2 Ummm, General Motors got their name from heir Business Model of buying and absorbing their Rivals (Seen a Hudson or Studebaker lately?) What's their plan now, to buy what's left of Chrysler?

#3 There are state laws regulating relationships between auto dealers and manufacturers. Bankruptcy proceedings can bypass some of these laws, but only Chrysler is bankrupt at the moment.
A brief scan of midwestern news websites showed many recent announcements of auto suppliers announcing new layoffs.
