#2 India building bomb-proof tunnel for Kasab

NEW DELHI: India is building a bomb and bullet-proof tunnel in Mumbais Arthur jail for the safety of Ajmal Kasab, the lone gunmen captured alive in the Mumbai attacks.

The 20 foot long tunnel project, costing Rs 20 million will be completed in the next three weeks, to ensure his safe passage from his prison cell to the court during trial. As many 250 men are working round-the-clock to complete the project. The measure was taken after receiving threats to Kasabs life.

The Hindustan Times quoted prison sources as saying that Kasab would be kept in solitary confinement for the duration of his trial in the special court.

The court and Kasabs cell were being reinforced with iron plates and the court and the tunnel would be centrally air-conditioned.
