#3 the "Swedish model" -- an approach backed strongly by Mr Graham. In the early 1990s Sweden nationalised its banking sector then auctioned banks having cleaned up balance sheets. "In limited circumstances the Swedish model makes sense for the US," says Mr Graham.

It's misleading to call it nationalization. It's more like Chapter 11, allowing for an orderly sale of the banks. Shareholder equity is wiped out, which is the way it should be.

Graham is right. Especially when the alternative is the crazy policy of socializing loses.

#4 The South Carolina trunks seem to be schizo. They've got a righteous wing led by Gov. Sanford that told the feds to take their stimulus money and shove it and a trunk dominated legislature that spends like they want to give drunken sailors a good name. Jim DeMint and Lindsey Grahamnesty. It's sort of like Rick Santorum and Snarlen Pecter.
