#1 Were they allowed to 'escape' (again) by a deal with Karzai? or,
Were they never there in quantity to begin with? or,
Are they still there, but stashed their weapons and now are just ordinary tribesmen again?

#8 At a guess? They went home to Pakistan for the winter. They're back next spring, time to do it all over again.

Rinse, repeat, until the rest of NATO pulls out & undercuts the manpower reserves allowing any kind of concentration of the Anglo cutting-edge in the south and east.

#9 Were they allowed to 'escape' (again) by a deal with Karzai?

Like it or not, allowing another 'tribe' to escape has long been a standard Afghani practice. It may take a long time to break them of that, if ever.

#10 There were 2000 of them. Really. They just converted to civilians. Unfortunately, the conversion is not permanent.
