#1 This will result in no change except quadrupling the number of sexual assaults unless the UN radically changes the RoE for the force. There is no 'peace' to keep in Darfur unless one fights to create it.

#2 I quit reading this article 4 sentences into it.

It has been 4 years, the people are already driven off, raped or murdered. There is hardly anyone left to protect. And these idiots stand around at the UN cajoling and backslaping as if they have done some decisive bit of intervention.

#3 UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said the resolution will send "a clear and powerful signal" of the UN's commitment to help to the people of Darfur and the surrounding region "and close this tragic chapter in Sudan's history."

"And open up another tragic chapter in Sudan's history" he quietly added. I guess now the Janjaweed have a deadline to implement their "final solution" to this "problem" in Darfur, eh? Dec. 31st can't come soon enough, for some.

#4 Sadly, the girls in Darfur should be used to being raped by now. The UN troops will just be different rapists.
