#2 The whole thing would have been fine, if the boys had not been able to defend themselves. They'd be in prison, Nifong would be in higher office, and everyone would have patted themselves on the back for condemning racism by white men.

#4 My primary hope is that the lacrosse players don't sue the state of North Carolina, since I live there. I would hate to have to pay for Nifong's errors. Let the people of Durham county, and the city of Durham pay. They elected this idiot.

#5 Nifong is very lucky this little misunderstanding didn't take place in the 1920's or 30's. The outcome, as well as his personal situation, might have been somewhat more dire.
