#2 let's see.. Iranian apartment houses have hardly any steel in them. multi-storied buildings packed full of people.

Wadis, streambeds, creeks and rivers...forget flyash most likely *mud* is the woid, as in *mud* Dams and Berms.

well rock, sand, gravel and earth Dams can be useful if they are properly designed and compacted. Testing shall commence shortly..

#6 Heavy rains in normally arid areas produce a lot of landslides. So combination of high dam water levels and landslides into the water causing waves that overtop the dam or damage the dam itself.
