#1 It's unlikely that 148 people were injured in that one attack. The nice thing about chlorine, and I have "survived" two spills, is that you can smell it very easily. I suspect that most of the people affected smelled the chlorine and got very anxious.

That said, this is a potentially serious complication if the AIF ever manage to disburse it properly. It also highlights the danger we face in the United States merely by being an industrialized nation. We have toxic chemicals in all sorts of transportaion containers all around us. Accidents are common, and an intentional act if executed in the right time and place could be very bad.

#2 Chemical attacks against civilians? Hey fat Michael Moore! Whaddaya think about your heroic "Minute Men" now? No doubt Amnesty International will be expressing their outrage shortly.

#3 Where are they getting tanker trucks full of chlorine gas? "Stolen" from the water works, donated by Iran, Baathist leftovers?

#4 they also hit a police post in Ramadi about two days ago w/1500 lbs of explosives between two trucks. Put a crater in the ground about 15' deep and 40' around. Killed two ISF and two civilians. They were trying to get at the commander of the post but he was not injured.

#5 Note how MSM accounts refuse to use terms like "chemical weapon" or "poison gas" in reporting these potentially very significant events. You would never know from this headline that chlorine is in fact a proscribed chemical weapon.
Here is another example from the Associated (with terrorists) Press:
Iraq insurgents again use 'dirty' attack Note the sneer quotes around the term used by an Iraqi army officer and the appalling grammar---- one might use dirty tactics or carry out a dirty attack, but "use dirty attack" is illiterate.

At the same time, the MSM have no trouble suggesting that napalm is a prohibited chemical weapon, though in fact it is not. This meme has reached every level of the leftist constituency. Incidentally, how do I know when a lefty meme has reached saturation level? When I hear it being repeated by illiterate pop-culturists in West Texas.
Five years ago, I outraged local peace dupes and left-beasts by publicly advocating the use of mustard gas and flamethrowers to clean out AQ hideouts in Afghanistan. The enemy's use of poison gas in Iraq gives us a lawful warrant (if such is actually necessary) now for reprisals in kind. It might be quite effective under certain circumstances.
Cook 'em with gas.

#6 The use of chlorine demonstrates just how desperate these misguide youts are. The footsteps of history are gaining on them.

#9 The bombing involving chlorine gas on Wednesday followed an explosion on Tuesday north of Baghdad of a tanker filled with chlorine that had been rigged to explode, killing nine people and wounding 148, including 42 women and 52 children.

So, if my math's correct, that leaves 54 men wounded. Or was it 54 fluffy bunnies and petunias? I guess we'll know when/if PETA releases a sternly worded letter.

The MSM is looking for another big violation of the Geneva convention like placing white lace panties on a terroist's head. OH MY! Can it get more dreadful than that?
I can imagine it easily, even if John Murtha can't. You are correct, Dr. Steve. IMHO, Murtha should be in a nursing home not the House of Representatives.

#13 Repeating an earlier post, how long before a similiar event occurs here in the US? All sorts of trucks are sitting around, loaded for delivery with any number of gaseous agents; clorine, propane, are just two. and there are many sitting in unprotected parking lots / truck stops. a 2 hour head start on a stolen rig could put a big hurt on a metropolitian area. My personal fear is a propane or other flammable truck set ablaze under the Seattle Convention center. That would paralyze the city and I-5 for a long time. if the building came down, the road would be closed for at least a month i am estimating.

#14 I think TW asked the right questions. My guess, uneducated as it is, would be that some legitimate business or government operation is currently missing a significant amount of chlorine. If the authorities could find out which one, they might be onto something.

#17 Chlorine is heavier than air, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where you could use it to kill potentially thousands.

I won't say because I might give someone ideas.
