Fair question.

One theory being floated is that Iran already has a nuke or two. The Iranians have gone on record to say that they'd willingly suffer 10-15 million dead just to insure the 5 million Jews are erased from the ME.

I'm still trusting Bush will make good on his vow not to permit Iran to get nukes. Time will tell if my confidence was misplaced.

#8 I said this at the beginning of this war and I will say it again even at the cost of seeming to be a rabid psychopath or worse:

We must target the entire family of anyone who takes part in terrorist activities or the support thereof. That includes parents, siblings, spouses, children and whatever other linkage exists.

It must be understood that anyone entering this fight risks exterminating their entire lineage. Let the families consider whether they want their lunatic children to put them all at risk.

Nothing psychopathic about it. Simply tribal. That way of thinking is how the "other" think as a matter of course, and in these multikulti times all narrative is equally valid, so to return to your "Viking" roots (for instance) is a cultural step to be celebrated. You are simply liberating your "inner" you.

#10 DanNY, I am forced to agree and you are not at all any sort of rabid psychopath. Even brief examination of the terrorist agenda shows they think absolutely nothing of collective punishment. This is one squeamishness we must overcome in order to have any chance of winning the War on Terrorism. We, too, must make penalties for terrorist collusion steep enough whereby those who do so with seeming impunity begin to reconsider the wisdom of their actions.

This is where Israel is slowly begining to see the light (once again). By shelling or simply destroying entire neighborhoods where rockets are launched from, locals are sent the message that consequences come along with turning a blind eye to rocket crews who base their activities there.

There is a second and equally important corollary to this issue. Security measures in Islamic terrorism networks are heavily reliant upon familial ties. By eradicating entire families, large links are broken out of the support chain. A side effect is that it also curtails any possible genetic or congenital basis for terrorism.

Finally, we must enlarge this entire concept to the nation-state level. Terror sponsoring governments must be notified that any major terrorist atrocity (i.e. NBC attack), will result in nuclear retaliation. There must be collective punishment for populations of countries that allow or encourage their governments to pursue this grisly agenda.

The problem with your approach is that such renouncements and 'disowning' may be only temporary. The other solution is permanent.
Let them decide how to deal with it.
