#1 Rather than take down empty buildings, can we shut al-Kassam down?

#2 "If they continue with these attacks, we will strike at targets in Zionist territory that we have not struck until now," said the organization's spokesman.

I'm not very bright, but I'm 100% certain schools, hospitals and universities were indeed targeted, sometimes successfully, by the paleobastards in the course of the "al aqsa" intifada. So, this is propaganda and hyperbole as usual; still, I can't help compare this declaration with the french msm bias in reporting the israel offensive on the poor, poor, poor gaza strip, and it's deprived and oppressed inhabitants... there really is one side who can't be held responsible for anything, and is the Victim-By-Excellence to whom everything is pardoned because he's Oppressed By The Man.

#3 The fedayeen used to target schools and such, long before the PLO was a gleem in Yasser Arafat's eye. This is reversion to the tactics from before the invention of the suicide bomber. However, such attacks required the insertion of a group of gunmen, as opposed to the lone bomber threading through the crowded streets -- so I'm not sure how they plan to get armed groups of men out of the PA.

#4 By tunnelling, I suppose, although it requires a lot of effort. Why don't the Israelis build a moat around Gaza? Build a canal starting at the Mediterranean and going all the way to Sinai. Any engineers here?

#5  Any engineers here?

Oh, dear. Apostate, for some reason this place attracts them. And computer people. Lots of military, current and former, of course. War gamers, naturally. At least one commodities trader, although I've no idea whether he's a pro or not. Educators at all levels, although that set intersects with former military for some reason. Retirees concerned about the future of the world they helped make (thanks, guys!! It could have been much worse without your efforts). A linguist or two. Quite a few amateur poets and songwriters, some quite good indeed. Expats from all over, and a goodly selection of nationalities, some living here and some out there.

And that's all just off the top of my head, of those who post their thoughts. Heaven only knows what expertise our lurkers bring with them, although I've noticed a bunch of new posters lately, and look forward to getting to know them better.

#6 a moat wouldnt stop rocket attacks. There has been very little successful infiltration from Gaza since the withdrawl. This raid was an exception, and Im sure IDF is studying quite carefully how to prevent any future such. At far less coast than a moat.

#8 Best thing is a double-fence with a minefield in between - with mines that will explode if disturbed from above or below. Second to that are armed guard towers along a fence with shoot-to-kill orders and motion detectors. Third (most permanent and most effective), eliminate Gaza and its inhabitants. If Hamass attacks a hospital, I suggest using proposition three, post-haste.
