#3 It's situations like this where a battleship would be perfect. Park it 12-15 miles off the coast, and hit targets at will. A group of hamass at the intersection? No problem - one 16-inch shell would take care of it, the intersection, and most of the buildings adjacent to it. Need stronger persuasion? Send a salvo of 9 6-ton shells into a street, all detonating more or less simultaneously. Instant canal. Massed seething? An airburst 500 feet overhead to give them a reason to disperse. Lower 100 feet every minute they don't.

We try too hard to make war "nice". War isn't "nice". War is hell. The purpose is to make the other side give up. You can't do that without making it very, VERY nasty for him.

#5 Too bad we didn't sell the one of our old battleships to Israel. They could have parked one of those offshore.

God knows what sort of improvements they would have made to it by now.
