#3 So's there's at least three stories out there now:

• The Jordanians tipped us off
• We trailed the holy man
• Locals tipped us off

How much you wanna bet that none of them are true?

#4 I will bet that Jordan shouldn't advertise this to much, aince they will get dipped in pooh by the dead bastards fans, family and friends.

I think their spy guys helped. They have feet on the ground and are reliable.

#5 Actually, I would be willing to be that all three are true to a certain extent - operations like this weld together discrete pieces of information into a functional whole.

#6 Three stories. Maybe true, maybe false. Maybe a little of each. From the terrorist point of view, you can't be sure if someone was turned, a cell was broken or who might have ratted you out. Suspicion is a terrible thing. Hee hee.

#7 Interesting. I have no doubt that the Jordanians would have tipped us off. But they also want to be publicly KNOWN that they tipped us off.

Not only support, but PUBLIC support. In any case, Thanks!

#8 This way the Jordanians also get credit for avenging the wedding bombing in Jordan some months back. Arab public opinion frowns on terrorist attacks against Arab civilians, while still sadly silent (at best) and gleeful (at worst) on murder of non-Arab civilians. In other words, their main motivation for going public may be less to give us support and more to show their own public they aren't impotent when it comes to responding to terrorist attacks on their own soil. Nevertheless, a damned sight better than paying off terrorists, as some other countries do.

#9 Radio guy Jay Severin said it came from intel from prisoners.

#10 we trailed the holy man, whom we first located (to begin the tail) due to a tip from inside AQ, and that tip may have come from a source Jordan intell was running.

Think abou it - theyve had the motive = Zarqo was sending boomers there way - they had the means - An intell service compose of native arabic speakers, who can easily blend into the population, and who presumably have experience penetrating terrorist groups - and the opportunity - plenty of chance to move people across the border into Iraq.

#11 "Radio guy Jay Severin said it came from intel from prisoners."

Its also possible that Jordan supplied intell that aided in the interrogation, or intell that helped catch those prisoners.

#12 Apparently Mossad claims they were in on it too.

#13 They also have a motive to go public; make sure Zarks family realizes they will be next if there's any monkey business in Jordan. Not a good day to be a Zarka

#16 "plenty of chance to move people across the border into Iraq."

Reflecting on that. AQinIraq is made up heavily of foreign arabs, right? "Hi, Im Abu Ahmed, and Im from Amman, and I want to join the Jihad" How the hell does AQ know he ISN'T actually a Jordanian agent, recruited in Amman, if not actually a Jordanian operative? I mean in the past they probably tried to vet people with their contacts in the salafi community in places like Jordan - but how picky can they be these days, when theyve lost so much cannon fodder? We kill lots of them, but they always seem to replace em - this may well be the fruit of increasingly desperate recruiting practices.

#17 I saw a report last night on the "martyrdom wedding celebration" held in Zark's hometown in Jordan. The camera crew was eventually chased away by dozens of children and teens pelting them with rocks. There must have been a hundred little future Zarks shouting their usual Allen bla bla bla with nothing but total hatred in their eyes. Not that I don't appreciate the tip Jordan, but if you really want to help, start in your own neighborhood.

#18 Unfortunately for Iraq, ratlines of terrorists into Iraq is a very effective and cheap way for the surrounding Arab countries to dispose of their local whackos. It is the approach of making the entry into Iraq a bit difficult and then report the entry of the idiots to the local Iraqi and/or American units. The permitting country gets credit for warning us about the incoming terrorists, gets rid of a bunch of their headaches, and creates a continuing drain on the individuals who would be doing such terrorism in their home countries - since there is the buglight of Iraq calling to the terrs in its siren voice.

#19 But it wasn't Apache trackers. Nope. All lies! No gentlemen from the White Mountains were involved. No they weren't 1st on the scene. Don't worry about Apache, they hate Army life and are slovenly.
