-from normal Canadian teenagers to radicalized introverts
-military fatigues and military touques
-watching a lot of those Chechnyan jihad videos
-try to recruit younger teens to the fundamentalist Wahhabi view
-once preached that Canadian forces were in Afghanistan to rape Muslim women

So did he contact the authorities?

There was a few little things called 11 September and 7 July, that came in the interim between Columbine and now. Columbine it self should have been enough of an alert.

Plus IIUC traditional north-african islam was sufism (salafism being rapidly supplanting it), didn't stop them from being pirates and raiding christian coastal villages to capture slaves, or to commit countless atrocities during independence war.

#13 Fatigues are all the rage at the local high schools here in the middle of the Midwest, Cyber Sarge. The local different schools even have their own colour waves, according the Army Surplus store -- one is red/black, another blue/grey/black, and so forth. And the girls like to wear them with little lacy tops. Of course, that kind of an outfit worn with a hijab might be a bit startling... especially on a big, bad jihadi-boy like the kids arrested up north.... ;-
