#1 Lol. Hans Brix. Like a bad penny. Blue Ribbon, eh? Make a top-shelf apple pie, do you?

Thank you so much for your unsolicited opinion. Do fuck off.

#3 Hmmmm...

They appear more concerned with the US defending itself than with Iran getting nukes.

#4 Wonder why Hans wants to see it stopped?? So rouge fckhead states can take potshots with ICBM's at America with nasty results?? I think so. I would dearly love to know how he thinks a working missile defence sytem would make the world a more dangerous place, my only thinking is it makes the world a much scarier place for the likes of the NORKS and Iranians which is cleary who Hans is rooting for....lol Hans the dictator 'Fan Boy'

#5 Pretty sure we'll be needing that US hardware when the Mullahs eventually get their 'toy'. There's a whole movement in Europe just wanking over the prospect of being nuked or so it seems. They should grow beards and wear burkhas in preparation. Fuckwits.

#6 OK, Hans. We will stop building our missile defense. However, if anyone shoots a missile at us, we promise to turn the entire country into a radioactive glass parking lot. And if anybody else shoots at us, we will turn that country into a parking lot as well. We have enough nukes to do it.

Or would you rather we just set up a system to shoot down any incoming missile before it hits?

Think about it. Which plan would cause less death and destruction?

#9 The specific paper is here: (Warning .PDF file)

No. 24 - Controlling Missiles

Some revealing snippets:

"In the long run, after change in the U.S. administration,"

"With help from others, Iran has become capable of producing its own missiles as well as nuclear weapons. Negotiation is the only practical way to control Iran’s nuclear and missile potential."

"China too, with an eye on Taiwan’s moves toward independence and on the deepening of its nuclear arms inferiority vis-à-vis the U.S. through deployment of U.S. missile defenses, is likely to strongly resist proposals for limiting or reducing its missile stocks. Similar considerations will sooner or later affect Russia."

Author is Jonathon Dean of the Union of Concerned Scientists.

#11 Just in case you thought only one of their papers might be biased...

No 37: "WMD Crisis: Law Instead of Lawless Self-Help"
Harald Müller

"In this respect, the Iraq war was an unmitigated disaster, and the unrepentant attitude of the warmakers even after their primary rationale for military intervention - the alleged WMD stocks and programs of Iraq - proved absolutely wrong is not helpful at all (nor is the re-election of the main four pro-war governments, Bush, Blair, Fogh-Rasmussen, and Howard)."

#23 "Deployment of such systems risk “creating or aggravating arms races,"

And just who the f*** is building systems and threatenting first use? Hint - its not the US, India, Israel, Russia or even China. Try the guys who are blackmailing other countries with them - or threatening to "obliterate" Israel.

"arms control measures"

This idiot assumes we are talking about rational opponents. The holocaust-denying antisemetic apocolyptic guys in Teheran and the cult of personality dictator in Pyongyang most definitely are NOT.

Blix is 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound sack. Why doesn't ANYONE call him out on this in public or the press?

#36 5089 is running some weird 12cpu BeoWoof lashup with a dedicated t3. Lord knows how many minions he's got.

At least somebody's running one of those! Your own personal supercomputer. Easy, cheap, and fast (and the way supercomputers are being built today largely). Unfortunately, they're so easy that almost anyone can build one - even the bad guys (anyone who knows what they're doing could build a Beowulf cluster using cheap, off-the-shelf units like Fry's sells (Linspire GQ machine running at 1.5 GHz and easy as hell to convert to WinXP or Linux) for $149 apiece). The idea of a bad guy HQ running a supercomputer is no longer scifi.

Hey Anon5089, drop me a line off-list in regards to your Beowulf (I'm planning on building one and bought a book on 'em earlier this year).
