#1 The BS in all this is that the privacy laws only apply to the government not corporations.

So next time you are in G-MAIL... Look at the ads next to your open e-mail. TELL ME TRUTHFULLY THAT THEY ARE NOT RELATED TO THE CONTENT OF THAT E-MAIL.

Their are no privacy laws of any major restriction for communications companies.

#2 "..it is my hope.."

Whaddya mean, "hope"? How about assembling a capable panel to conduct your own investigation and bring charges on anyone found responsible? Instead of "hoping" that someone will do something, how about getting the ball rolling?

But that was the point of the leak, yes?

#4 Exactly, Emily! It's a great victory for the NYT (spit), ranking up there with the Pentagon Papers.

#6 Difference between this and the Pentagon Papers is that this time the Gov is going to investigate and imprison the leakers and hopefully the NYT people that chose to print this.

#7 I bet after a little time of saying how useless it is now, everyone will stop paying attention. And then everyone will resume using their telephones, because it really is necessary to talk directly to friends and colleagues. And then... well then once again the intelligence analysts will have plenty to sift through. But do let's tell the reporters how frustrated we are that a wonderfully effective program has been destroyed by their efforts.

#8 Thanks Jane Harman D-Spineless CA, for doing absolutely nothing to keep this secret. She has spent the last weeks trying to distance herself from having been in the loop since 9/11. Only when her party decided to put partisan gain (which didn't pan out, again, did it?) ahead of national security, she was backpedalling so fast she broke a heel
