#1 "We have a saying in Arabic: 'It's hard to catch the thief if he is a member of the family.' That's our predicament."

Well one has to look at who gasins by these attacks? If you do that you have to look towards Iran as well as at Sunni terrorists. You also have to look a Tater and his tots.

Well said Um Karin. The family is Islam. The victims are muslims.

Time to make a choice: is it going to be family, or law and order?

#7 Other than the Tater Tot nitwit, it struck me that these comments are basically universal. Were the same thing happening almost anywhere else and street interviews conducted - the comments would surely be almost identical. Sure, they must actively help the authorities (or act themselves) if they want the attacks to stop, but I believe some do - just not enough. Particularly interesting, to me, were those who blame the Govt for not doing enough / stopping the attacks. How familiar.

It's difficult to state strongly enough how rare true individualism and self-reliance are. The brass to act, without official sanction, whether in self-defense or defense of those who are unable is apparently rare. We (the US) have obvious examples, The Minutemen being a recent but instant classic, that indicates we have a healthy percentage of these individuals. We are fortunate, indeed.
