#1 Give the deserters and traitors anything you want, Canada, but KEEP THE BASTARDS ON YOUR SIDE OF THE BORDER - FOREVER.

#2 Private Jeremy Hinzman served in Afghanistan as a cook

Yeah, I think he would have a better shot at staying if he didn't mention this.

"The war in Iraq is just as illegal, just as immoral and just as much of an outrage to humanity as was the U.S. war against Vietnam," said Gerry Condon

That about explains it all.

#3 Definitely welcome Canadian doctors, engineers, and other productive members. Strictly limit the comedians. Don't know how many Jim Carreys I can take. We'll send our deserters, cowards, druggies and hippies, and illegal Pakistani immigrants. Sounds like a fair trade, eh?

#4 KEEP THE BASTARDS ON YOUR SIDE OF THE BORDER

I thought we were shipping our garbage south, not the other way around.

#5 ..I think the descriptive term here is "going over like a turd in a punchbowl." I don't think it'll fly.

#6 Raffie baby! You're always welcome to make a run for the border. Come on down and join the winning team.

#7 One other thought - the article describes Mr. Condon as a 'resister during the Vietnam war'. Now, IIRC he could have come home decades ago.
Why didn't he?
The simple answer is that whatever disagreements one has with those who headed north, the ones who came home after the amnesty at least had the courage to face what they'd done. This coward - and coward is the word - is afraid to come home.

Thanks, but I'm one of those people that goes down with the sinking ship. Like the Titanic's orchestra.

#9 "Private Brandon Hughey, the second known U.S. soldier seeking refugee status, slipped past military police in Texas in March a day before his unit was scheduled to go to Iraq."

Hughey is just a coward - snuck off base right before he was to ship overseas - screwed his unit and his buddies over. Kerry out to love this guy - a buddyf**ker just like him.

He's not a war objector - just a run of the mill pussy who had so little character that he broke his oath of enlistment. He should be tried for cowardice and desertion in wartime, and put out at leavenworth for life at hard labor (execution is too good for him, let the little bastard suffer).

#10 You can be absolutely certain Jimmy Carter Kerry will consider it his sacred duty to provide blanket amnesty to the cowardly and foulmouthed sockpuppets of this nation's enemies who fled North upon taking the oath of Office.Perhaps Canadian warriors sickened by the negligence of their political leaders will seek refuge in America, and join the US MILITARY in time for President Bush to allow them to shoot back at the terrorists.

#12 Ten snipers in exchange for one US deserter and a traitor to be named later.

#13 Once upon a time, I had the occasion to stay in a hotel in Seattle that was hosting a reunion of Canadian Vietnam War Vets. http://dede.essortment.com/canadasvietnam_rgwv.htm The only wilder party ever witnessed by me was a gathering of RiverRats in Fort Worth. More Canadians served with the US forces in VietNam than American cowards went North. During my time in the AF, I had occasion to both train and work with the Canadian Forces-Air, good men serving an unworthy government. Just because the Canadian government will do some pathetically PC thing like take in American deserters doesn't mean that all Canadians are wusses anymore than 8 years of Bill Clinton means all Americans are sleazebags.

#14 obviously not all Canucks are wusses, however their hosting of Islamo-Paleo hate groups and open borders (welcoming "refugees" from terror-abetting countries) are serious security concerns for us. The confiscatory gun-control laws are a problem for them. The are a mini-EU, living under the security umbrella provided by us, while snapping at our ankles whenever possible, it seems, with exceptions such as Raphael, of course ;-)

#15 These aren't 'resistors' just slimey COWARDS that need to be slapped -- HARD! Where the hell is Patton when we need him?

Someone who joined the military should have no right to claim 'resistance' just when they have to earn their pay (and collage and other benefits). What the hell did they think the military did? Write poetry? Especially after the past 25 years (Panama, Grenada, GW1, Bosnia, etc...).

If that's true RWV then my day is suddenly brighter. I never would have imagined that.

#17 For what it's worth:

The only Canadian awarded the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War was Spc. 4 Peter C. Lemon of Norwich, Ontario. Lemon volunteered for reconnaissance/commando training in Vietnam and joined the 1st Infantry Division as a ranger. When the 1st Infantry Division rotated home in March 1970, he was moved to the 1st Cavalry Division's Reconnaissance Company.

On the night of April 1, 1970, some 300 - 400 North Vietnamese unexpectedly attacked a fire support base near the Cambodian border. During the battle, Lemon and another soldier were ordered to man an abandoned .50-caliber machine gun. They were unable to get it to function. A mortar shell soon hit them, wounding Lemon and killing his friend. Lemon then returned to his original bunker, scooped up grenades, and began throwing them amidst the attackers. When another friend was hit, Lemon carried him under fire to the first aid station. Lemon was wounded again while returning to his bunker, but continued battling the NVA. An enemy soldier was causing havoc with well-placed rounds from a grenade launcher. A well-aimed burst from Lemon's machine gun knocked him out of action.

After about an hour of intense fighting, the enemy assault petered out. Lemon moved to a fortified bunker where he found a badly wounded South Vietnamese soldier. When the medics arrived, Lemon refused treatment for shrapnel wounds in his head, neck, leg and arm so that the medics could first take care of the badly bleeding ARVN soldier. Lemon was evacuated and spent a month recuperating in hospital and later was presented the Medal of Honor by President Nixon in a ceremony at the White House.
