#1 Disappointing, especially from VDH who has never disappointed before. No matter how much strong language commentators throw in, and no matter how they attempt to say they are not placing the US in the same category as the terrorists, it always weakens the point when they bring up the actions of terrorists or tyrants in the same discussion as actions of our soldiers. It inevitably (even if indirectly) results in a comparison between the two groups. And that inevitably sounds like an excuse or justification. Luckily, POTUS and the military leadership have not made the same mistake. They are doing it right: express disgust, take action to punish those involved, and make sure it doesn't happen again. That approach provides as much moral high ground as we can salvage out of this incident. Pointing at the actions of our enemies for "perspective" just smears us with their deeds. Of course there is a horrible double standard: pointing it out is unecessary and makes for a weak and pathetic argument. This is take responsibility time, no nuance, no perspective. I'm glad Bush is taking the manly course and hope neither he nor the brass waver.

#2 As David Hackworth was saying today on Scarborough, this isn't just a few corrections officers. VDH is wrong about that. It's about leadership that extends upward, at least to the level of generals.

Ultimately, though, what this comes down to is the wave of immorality and sexual perversion we are seeing in this country coming to a double head in gay marriage and now this sickening pornography in Iraq. Janet Jackson and Justin Timerlake were just the prelude to what is now a recognizable train of disaster.

The Iraq photos were not an interrogation technique. They were not meant to shock captives into talking. You do not introduce sexual sadism in your interrogation techniques if you are a professional. Sexual sadism just messes with your other objectives. A good interrogator keeps that sex crap out of his job.

The whole network of nutjobs who are behind this outrage need to go to prison for a long time, from the generals down through the ranks.

Send them all to jail for decades. Publicize their photos (faces only, thank you) and humiliate them before the entire world, assuming they actually have a sense of shame.

And don't let the other pervs off the hook, either. It all starts by fighting gay marriage with every breath we have.

Michael Jackson is not a sideshow. He is at the center of this web of filth and smut that is infecting everything we are trying to do as a nation. Now a video camera has been found in a Navy shower used by women sailors.

Turn out the perverts. Restore law and morality, both at home and in our armed forces.
