#3 Next step is to create a flying laser weapon that will vaporize targets on the ground. Instead of intercepting rockets in flight, why not fry the rocket and the launcher (and the associated personnel) where they stand?

#5 Destroying a missile in flight is a lot harder than it sounds. The AF has been working on this stuff since the mid-70's. Looks like someone finally got it right. Now even the French should realize the chasm between American military technology and anything that Old Europe can bring to the table.
