Only after the Red Army & the Brits had occupied Iran. IIRC Reza Khan was rather pro-German & got all over-excited as Hitler's troops moved into the Caucasus, hence his decision to close the Trans-Iranian Railway in 1941 to stop war materials reaching the USSR (not a wise decision...)

Ignoring for a moment the fact that the paragraph above doesn't make any sense, I recall Vlad saying something very different when he came to visit Blair, then the Russkies were key players in the WOT & any complaints about what the boys get up to in Chechnya were a sign of dastardly pro-Muslim sentiments.
