#1 Syria and Israel were close to a peace agreement in 2000, with Israel offering to return nearly all of the Golan Heights. But the two sides were unable to finalize the deal.

Fuck 'em. Syria attacked and lost. Had Syria attacked and Israel lost ground, does anyone really think that there would be negotiations being conducted fo Syria to "return" lost Israeli territory? Would Syria even entertain the idea of returning lost Israeli territory?
