#1 I think that Tariq is negotiating from a position of weakness.

#2 He wants a DEAL?....

Offer to stop pulling out his toenails if he spills his guts. Maybe.

#3 hah. I THOUGHT he was desperate: When the looting started, all the medicines he needed to survive got stolen.

Scratch Aziz as the possible informant on Saddam's whereabouts discussed earlier...

#4 I dunno.. he's got a lot of info to sell..
and he could also making a public statement detailing the bribery of various reporters and such.
A detailed post-mortem by him on the regime could be a very valuable piece.

#5 No Deal! The guy is a murderous scuzzy slimeball and the Iraqi PEOPLE should have a say in his ultimate diposition.

I say blow off his deal and see how much information he can "retain" after 7 days of sleep deprivation. He'll dump his secrets with no deal.

#6 Well, we will need a good specialist to check him over, look at his meds and see what kind of stress he can take. I do not mean torture, but he will be comfortably isolated without any family contact until he starts a little song. If he has some kind of heart condition you do not want him to vapor lock.

#7 Tell him, "no deal." When he blubbers about all the information he has for sale, tell him, "we really don't care. We'll figure it all out without you."

Then hand him over to the Iraqi Interim Authority and the Iraq War Crimes Commission [1], where he can be the first one tried. Let a jury of Iraqis decide what to do.

This guy has a nightmare -- a construction crane in Baghdad. I wouldn't keep him from it.

[1] The IWCC, chaired by a distinguished American jurist, of course.

#8 I'd forgive a lot if he rolled over on Chiraq.
That, and I think there is a huge opportunity for one or two people who were 'in the know' on the regime to switch sides and become powerful speakers for our message.

#9 No deal. He has to go before a war crimes commission. Iraq will not become a true democracy without trials for those who oppressed the people for 30 years. No information is worth the blood that this man has on his hands.

We can get what we need without him.
