#2 i must say i wondered if Aziz was sending us a message when he visited the Vatican immediately before the war, and then the Vatican sent an envoy to the White House right after. hmmm....

#4 Azzzzizzzz may have done it at the last minute when everything else was literally or figuratively cratering at the beginning of the war. The only thing that keeps hitting me about Azzzzzizzzz is that he would have to be overwhelmingly loyal to Sammy to keep his head for so many years. Even loyal Saddamites were shot for disagreements or questionable loyalty, either real or perceived by Sammy.
