#1 Now that communisim is gone, The russians have no good reason to oppose the United States where their interests are not in conflict with ours. They opposed us in the UNSC with regard to Iraq because cash was involved, and they're really hard up in that area. I can't remember if they were straight with us in that area, but if they were, then they're a lot better than France, who had the same reason, but did a lot of moral posturing to cover that up.
