#4 ....This right here is some authentic Cold War-era gibberish. On a believability scale of 1-10 -1 being flatly false, 10 being Lincoln-level honest - I give this a minus potato. It likely didn't happen at all.

But along the same lines, it should be mentioned that not long ago, the USAF leadership up there in AK complained that the intercept rate was too high, and they couldn't sustain it. When I was at Langley AFB 85-89, I watched the 48th Fighter Interceptor Squadron there launch on a regular basis, especially when the Havana Express was running. The idea of USAF officers complaining that the bad guys are pushing us on an unsustainable schedule is infuriating.
