#1 Report still says Iran can have a bomb by 2010.

Report doesn't say enrichment of uranium halted four years ago: plans for the bomb have been floating around for years. It's the lack of fissile material that has blocked development of an actual weapon.

If you have sanctions and economic problems, it makes sense to not develop if you can just buy and copy what you can, and concentrate on developing what you can't buy.

some people are so STUPID.

#2 I always said the worst possible outcome of the build up to the second Gulf War would be if Hussein complied with all UN sanctions and started paying lip service to the treaty which suspended hostilities at the end of the first Gulf War. Congress would not have paid for hundreds of thousands of troops in Kuwait and environs indefinitely and, once the French and Russians and street traitors had their way, Iraq could have dug everything up out of the desert and had the bomb, say, two years later than they would have.

#3 This is raising eyebrows. To start with, these intelligence agencies never agree on anything, and they certainly will never agree on proving a negative, which is next to impossible.

Therefore, they must have been ordered to agree, but even the President does not have the authority to make them do that, by himself.

The only plausible reason is that Bush and others must have ordered them to do this for one reason: to *prevent* a nuclear war. Only that is a strong enough argument.

But boy, does this open up a can of worms.

This also means that Israel has to be in on it, as they are the 800-pound nuclear gorilla in the ME.

And nutjob is proclaiming that it is a great Iranian victory, which we had to expect, and not something that is going to make us happy at all. But something we had to be willing to swallow.

The Russian and Chinese have to be involved in some way, as nobody does anything nuclear without telling the others what is going on, for obvious reasons.

All the rest is guesswork.

Is there some brinksmanship ongoing that was threatening nuclear war, that the US felt it had to defuse?

Has the US created and deployed several super weapons that can guarantee 100% that Iran cannot successfully use a nuclear weapon?

A hell of a lot of questions, and no answers.

#4 "President Bush has lost all credibility with the American people," said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. "We were misled on Iraq, now it's Iran. We need to get to the truth so our foreign policy is not only tough but smart."

Where did the previous NIE come from? Is that what everyone has been interpreting for the past several years? How is it Bush's fault that it changed? Has he been sitting on it for four years? That seems to be what Howie and the Dims thinks.

Why did it take the geniuses four years to figure out what was going on in 2003? What will they tell us in 2011? That Nutjob resumed work on the bomb in December, 2007 and will have the bomb in three days? Or will have exploded one three days before? How far off did the NIE tell us the Soviets were from a bomb when they exploded one? Ya know, back in the late 40's.

I can't believe how stupid the Dims think we must be. Of course, upwards of 40% believe their tripe.

#5 I was reading elsewhere that all sorts of pieces are starting to come together.

The US has pulled all its ships out of the Persian Gulf, Arabian Sea, and Gulf of Oman. The Iranian al-Quds activity in Iraq has close to stopped.

About a month or two ago, Bush looked tired, depressed and like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Now he looks happy and invigorated.

Israel has come out with a statement almost the same as Bush, implying they are on the same sheet of music, and neither horrified or terribly upset.

The Iranians are proclaiming it a great victory, which by ME standards probably means for them a disastrous defeat.

Geez, when is the other shoe going to drop?

The only people taking at the NIE at face value seems to be Moonbats.

#6 Bush was called a liar when he believed the WMD report he got from the "intelligence agencies", and now he is called a liar when he doesn't believe the reports.

#7 I motion gorb for an award.

This is not the bombshell made out to be, I think there are some things missing between the lines:

Is there a dissenting opinion from this committee of 12 committees?

I stopped driving when I got to work, my guess is that when I decide to start driving again I am already half way home.

Ahmajinn's well documented past rhetoric remains the same.

France and Russia both seem to think something is up as well.

"If everything is legit, then you won't mind someone coming in and taking a look around then..."

If Iran was doing this for the good of the people would it not be a better investment to spend this money and effort on tried and true refineries rather than experimental (for Iran) nuclear power?

The U.S. acknowledgment about faulty intelligence about Iran recalled the erroneous U.S. conclusion that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, a belief that was a factor in Bush's decision to invade Iraq. So poison gas is only a crime in the Kirkham Street Sports and Social Club? History, intent, and an UN inspection mandate - what else do you need besides hazmat gear?

Since the show 'who want to be a democratic idol' is about to be cancelled they need a hook like this to stay on the air. Obama calls for an invasion of pakistan but "They should have stopped the saber rattling, should never have started it," . dean continues to use the singular version of the word 'we'. hillarity continues to talk out of both sides of her mouth it is a wonder her ears don't have cold sores. rockefeller's quote sounds like something from a trashy coffee shop discussion and his grandkids live in the other america so what does he care. This is the last, best shot for the democrats to defeat Bush in 2008 so expect much salivation from your radio every NPR hour and continuous coverage by cnn.

(ps thanks for the cluein about 'ignorant slut', I only wonder if the same ratio exists out there for my reference to I Love New York :-) )

#9 Comment from Strategy Page:

"the people creating the Iran weapons section have a reputation for pro-Iran opinions. Moreover, the "halt" angle has very little to back it up. This new analysis seems to be more for political than intelligence effect"

#10 And the report was authored by:

#11 How about some "good" leaks from the intelligence that describe the creative process that went into the creation of this NIE?

"Boy, our report will sure tie bushitler's hands regarding Iran."

Was any information included from the Iranian general who defected?

Will the 10-12 other intelligence agencies sit quietly as questions keep coming for this complete 180?

I can only imagine the Israelis coming public with more recent intelligence that completely embarasses these findings?

#12 Maybe it has something to do with that "non-terrestrial craft" that Pravda said was in on the Israeli bombing of the Syrian "facility", whatever that was. That's about as good an explanation as this report gives us.

Yesterday I was extremely pissed off about it. Today I still am. It's like they think we're a bunch of children so they think we're going to believe their stories about the stork and Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

How do they ever expect us to support any war if they are going to lie, if they are going to say one thing one day and something else on another day?

They are no good, that's all. They should all be fired. Why does the government spend my tax dollars for cow manure? We might as well be listening to Achmadiwhackjob himself.

The only way for us to know whether or not Iran is working to develop a nuclear weapon is if they let inspectors look anywhere they want. The Iranians won't allow that so BOMB THEM NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!

Er, that is, unless it's already too late.
