#2 How about no driving? That will do it.

#3 Hmmm. 148 pedestrian fatalities is roughly 1 every other day in a city of 8 million people. Doesn't seem particularly high, off hand. Gotta wonder how many take place on residential streets vs main thoroughfares.

Hey, you don't suppose this is all about revenue generation, do you? (100 tickets/day * $100/ticket * 300 days = 3 million dollars)

#4 How many of those pedestrians were looking at their phone when they were hit?

How many of the drivers were looking at their phone when they hit the pedestrian?

#5 Last time I drove in NYC I found it darned near impossible to get UP to 20 mph. On neighborhood streets OR parkways/expressways.

#9 Given the New Yorker's habit of taking a step and a half off the curb then turning the head to see what's coming, things could be worse.

#10 Drive in Manhattan everytime I go back to LI. Never have got up to above 20MPH except when past 3rd St. heading to the tunnel. What a joke. They want you to slow down for DeBlasio's resurrection of the New Squeeze Man.
