#2 It doesn't look to me like they are actually going toe to toe with the islamists. The pattern has been to drop some arty or plaster the place with fire from a helicopter but they aren't, as far as I can tell, following that up with sending troops in there to actually clear out any remaining enemy. So they seem to be doing the "kicking ass" part but not the "taking names" part.
