#2 I dunno.

I'm all for getting the Poles the defense base. They have been a solid ally, and have shown incredible amount of guts in sticking with us.

I trust the Poles to defend Germany and France more than I would trust France and Germany to defend Poland.

Plus I think putting it that far east may leave parts of France unguarded. Fine by me.

#3 Cost and payment arrangements aside, I think its simply delightful that we're sending Russia the unmistakable message that we trust them about as far as we can throw them. The ability to intercept Iranian missiles is just icing on the cake.

I'd also like to suggest that there be a "service fee" structure applied to this installation. A few billion dollars per each successful destruction of an incoming vehicle sounds about right. I'm sick and tired of Europe riding on our economic coattails.
