#1 In an interview Friday, Mendez's wife said she didn't know anything about the charges and that she had not seen her husband in more than a week. "I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm not going to let him run around with other women,"

Umm, I think it's bigger than that babe.

#2 ..And getting a handle on illegal immigration will stop this kind of nightmare too.

#3 Illegal aliens again - this time they are destroying their own.

We MUST secure the border - for law and order, as well as security's sake.

Were this properly done yearas ago, this girl would not have had to endure the horror she had.

#4 If they converted to Islam and made her their temporary wife the ACLU would have their backs.

#5 As George said - doing jobs Americans won't.

Now tell me again how the coyotes aren't just another version of 19th Century slavers?

#6 or that the arguments for continuing illegal immigration aren't the same as for continuing slavery.
*The economy will collapse
*They substandard human beings willing to do jobs that no one else will do
*They are better off than they would be in their native land
*I like my maid and want to keep her at $10 per hour.

#7 We all hate terrorism, right? This is just another (however sterling) example of man's inhumanity to man. As I've always said, the War on Terrorism is sucking down vital manpower and resources needed to combat a host of other worldly ills. This sure as hell rates as one of them. Juan Mendez and Cristina Andres Perfecto should never again see the light of day.

#8 Znester, this case is one wehre boththe War on Terror and the struggle agaisnt criminal evil intersect and share the same resource:

Real barriers and enforcement of the borders.

Good for crime control on things like this and drug smuggling, good for security.

Why the Republicans and Bush wanted to entangle this with immigration policy (which is irrelevant as long as our borders are unsecured) I have no idea - its one of the things that lost themthis election.

Its like living in a bad neighborhood and arguing about installing an alarm system, while your front door is off the hinges and all your windows are open.

#10 I couldn't agree with you more, OldSpook. Obliged to choose between border patrols and fighting terrorism, I'll still go with the WoT. All of the above is the preferred answer. Recent information published about Adnan El Shukrijumah should be enough to convince anyone that our borders are in desperate need of securing.

The only point I was really trying to make is how terrorism distracts us from so many other more worthy tasks. The massive amount of wealth, resources and manpower being consumed to find and prosecute a tiny fraction of this world's population make it imperative that we initiate much stronger measures to counter this threat.

MME (Muslim Middle East) countries need to be read the riot act and put on notice that a single terrorist nuclear attack against America gets all of them toppled or glassed over. Whatever suits our best interests or whim of the moment. Let these twisted shits chase down all of the sick fucks they've sent to hurt us.

That would be all of us here at Rantburg, the only ones likely to be reading this.

Zenster, if this was an either/or I would totally agree with you. But it seems to me the same border that is wide open to the coyotes is the border that is wide open to the jihadis. Unfortunately, you appear to have a Congress and an administration who are united in defending the rights of white-slavers and in defiance of their constitutional duties to protect the Republic.

But I am writing from the cold comfort of Canada so what do I know.

Excal, for that post, I'd say you know a lot about this issue. You cut to the core of it.

Excal, please do not worry. I fully realize that this is not an either-or situation. Sadly, my government does seem to think so. That's the only reason why I posted my preferences.

Yes, our borders are of critical importance. That's why I mentioned Adnan El Shukrijumah. Of even greater outrage is how our nation's politicians are so beholden to the almighty dollar that they cannot possibly reach beyond their graspings and understand what is good for America. I can only hope that this lack of vision will damn them all to everlasting hell.
