#1 So what's the over/under on this? They've been talking about doing it for what, half a year now? Urban combat is tough to start with. The baddies know they are coming and have had a long time to prepare. I don't see the Iraqi army as having the spine to do it.

Simplest, safest would be to raze the city and shoot the rats as they scurry out from the rubble, but that has 'humanitarian' implications. Where's Gen. LeMay when you need him?

#3 it took about 3 weeks for ISIS to take Ramadi earlier this year

it took about 6 weeks for the ISF to take Tikrit back from ISIS, also this spring and the ISF took a lot of casualties
