#1 Yep, you could tell as soon as it mentioned the "$60 million" worth of WMD.

How much WMD do you get for $60 million? Is that a lot or just a tad? Bigger than a breadbox?

I think if the Kuwaitis had bounced a WMD smuggling ring, we wouldn't be hearing about its street value.

#2 I could come up with a more creative interpretation of an Arab "biological warhead" (a turban?)

Fred, I know that WMD evidence would silence a lot of critics. Yet I prefer this story not to be true. First of all, it could be used against the Bush administration as a "self fulfilling prophecy". Didn't America go to war to stop WMD falling into the hands of terrorists? And now, look...
The thing is, if this was true, it could be like a drug bust. There is always much more that goes through unhindered.
And really, I don't want any of this stuff heading to Europe, to the very wrong people.
It would mean that Iraq's WMD are out of control.
If there is something to this story, it sounds more like a creative scam.
Worldnetdaily runs the story without mentioning AP. Hmmmmmm.

Right you are Steve. Not only do they say it's $60 million, but they don't say what the WMD's actually were. The varying prices of chemicals and methods of production effects the overall price. Way too many loopholes for this to be true.

IS THIS FOR REAL? [Jonah Goldberg]
The Hindustan Times is reporting that a pile of chemical weapons were seized in Kuwait coming from Iraq. Shouldn't that be news? The Dow Jones wire has picked up the story.

#5  I saw it on the English blurbs on KUNA yesterday and it apparently was an AP story per the Hindustan Times - no clue why it wouldn't be on the Arab Times.

#6 Pretty obviously Stephen Hatfill has to be a person of interest, and should be picked up by the FBI and interrogated about this, after all, how far is it, really, from Maryland to...um...Kuwait....

#7 There was a line in the story about handing them over to the FBI at a news conference. Uh, right!

#8 Five comments (i) The FBI could have given the rough $60 million figure for the grabbed WMD. Its such a ballpark figure as to be useless. (ii) It took days to determine what anything grabbed during the war actually was, so even if this is WMD don't expect the US Gov to say anything for a week or so.(iii) If this is real, its also possible that the US didn't want it leaked until they had tested it and rolled up all of the bad guys they could connected to this. (iv) Unlike Drugs you would probably want to move WMD out in one batch, that way if you got them out nobody is the wiser. If you moved them out in bits and pieces your odds of getting a little out increases but your odds of getting some of the WMD caught increases dramatically and when one batch is found it will be far harder to get the rest out.(v) getting it out through Kuwait makes since if you have connections that can get it into a shipping container or onto an oil tanker, from there it can go nearly anywhere.

#9 The reality may be that some precusors or promissary notes for precusors were being shopped around
