#2 To be fair, g(r)omgoru, according to the CIA World Factbook’s Afghanistan entry, the median age of the population is 19, and only half the males and a quarter of females are literate.

#5 The Jerusalem Post has more numbers, though no comment on a literacy requirement:

Afghanistan's presidential election turnout is unofficially estimated at a little over 2 million voters, said an election commission official on Sunday, speaking on condition of anonymity.

There were 9.67 million registered voters for the presidential election on Saturday, its fourth since the Taliban regime was defeated in 2001.
