#3 I saw where there is a law in Virginia that makes it a crime to use a firearm or air gun in a manner that makes someone (doesn't seem to matter who) afraid. School wouldn't seem to have jurisdiction, but the alternative might be charging the kids under that criminal statute.

#6 You're addressing the consequences not the cause. It's the lawyers who've already sued when schools tried to discipline well back twenty years ago. The administrators simply came up with the zero tolerance because they wanted to reduce the cost and hassle of every parent and their lawyer, not to mention the power grabbing judiciary (just another member of the bar), running their schools. Rational judgement has gone out the window. Now its fun to be a fascist cause they can ignore being reasonable, it's no longer in the job description.
