Been hearing the rumor for several weeks in the Gray back channels. So watch as Electronic equipment prices jump going into Christmas.

Side Note: Despite NAFTA and the newer USA–Mexico–Canada Agreement (USMCA). When adjusted for inflation US MSRP Vehicle pricing has been running 15% to 20+% higher than the inflation adjusted pricing?

eg.
1994 Ford F-150 MSRP Short Bed MSRP $12,866
2020 F-150 MSRP basic model price of $28,940,

Adjusted for inflation the MSRP should have been closer to $23,700 or about $5,200 lower.

#4 After the grief I've gone through finding a used ABS modulator for my 2008 Jeep Liberty, I've decided my next vehicle will be very old-school and stripped down. When you need to clear a diagnostic code because the dome light throws a VIN mismatch code, things are waaaaay overcomplicated.

Points, condenser, and rotor worked fine for a 100 years or so WITHOUT a computer, or chips.

No specialty tools required. If you had a good ear, you could generally get them to run fairly well without a timing light. A feeler gauge was handy, but you could use a matchbook cover to get em going.

We've come a long way. Not certain what direction however.

#6 I'm thinking 60's-70's Wagoneer with a straight six, standard shift (Love to have a 6 speed Richmond) and crank windows. A little lift and a mutha aftermarket AC setup.

#7 When I lived in PeeAye, a very common thing if you had a long driveway was to buy a completely hogged out CJ for about $400. It had to start and run, transfer case had to work, at least some brakes and maybe headlights. Only new parts on it was the plow kit. It was never going on the road (well, maybe to the neighbors' houses after a big storm) so it was not registered or inspected. But it got the job done.

#13 I heard Ford was in serious trouble. I believe Scotty Kilmer said they were shutting down. I know they are purging older workers to cut payrolls. Bet you CEO's given raises or bonuses. The mechanics I know prefer older vehicles. Easier to work on and fewer problems to operate. I see Biden stopping that. I say go horse and buggy.

#15 1964 Chevy Impala V8. Manual Transmission. No key - just turn the ignition without one. Remember replacing the U joints on the side of the freeway. Good times... Good Times...
Someone did steal it at one point. But only drove to about a mile before abandoning it - probably in frusration.

#16 Mine was a 1970 Dodge Super Bee 4dr (Coronet) with a 440 purchased used in 1975 for $2,495.00 it got <6 to 8 avg mpg. Really Enjoyed the BIG back seat ☺

I blew the 440 motor in under a month at the old Augusta National Drag strip and then "I" installed a used 318 from a totaled wreck for $150.00 10-14 mpg. Took 2 1/2 hours.

My purchased new Dodge Journey now has 32,000+ miles 4 oil changes No Tune ups and had the faulty computer replaced at 14,300.00. I was told if it had not been a warranty replacement it would have been close to 1/3 the cost of my $17,000 car.

While I miss Old school in only some ways, but not many others.
