Used to be, it often was. The punishment varied from being murdered by savage Indians, eaten by bears, walking off a cliff, cutting your foot off with an axe, or starving in the winter. Nowadays, we have either removed most of the hazards or insulated people from their choices.

Are there ever protests against Hamas? I'm picturing 1000s of people waving signs saying "Release the hostages or I will strangle you personally". Root causes, and all that.
