In several Metro-Cities in GA. the Gun buybacks had Sheriff Departments, after checking the weapon form previous shootings, auctioning off the purchase firearms to FFL dealers in other areas.

PLUS Private individuals standing on nearby street corners with signs offering as much as $50 more depending on the weapon and condition.

#2 My former father-in-law was a deputy in Jefferson County, Alabama. They had a buy-back program and the instances of stolen guns skyrocketed. Criminals were breaking into homes and stealing weapons and selling them in the buy back.

#5 Not the sharpest knife in the drawer but nevertheless a tool, Mayor Sylvester Turner managed to create a demand for lame-ass 3D-printed 'firearms' and an enterprising entrepreneur filled it. The amusing part is that making money was not the guy's point.
