#2 ^ Russians say the F-16 was destroyed in a SS missile strike, along with the pilot.

Ukraiians say it was a SAM.

The F-16 piloted by Aleksey ‘Moonfish’ Mes was hit by a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system due to discoordination between units.

The quote is attributed to a quote by UKR lawmaker Mariana Bezuglaya made on Telegram.

#4 Highly possible it was blue on blue, just like it was highly possible it was lost to pilot inexperience. A couple other countries lost F-16s this year due to pilot error or mechanical failures and they weren't in a hot war. It sucks but it happens.
