#1 given the state’s recommendation to cohort nursing home residents who test positive for COVID-19.

A f*ck in the tests can happen, but what's the rationale for the above?

#2 Jeez, as if the data wasn't garbage enough already.

#3 ^That's why sites (e.g. worldometer) distinguish between positive tests and active cases (symptomatic).
Now: "Most estimates have put the number of undetected cases at several multiples of detected cases" (worldometer). Which implies that, by now, most of the population is infected. Which implies - albeit only in Eurocentric terms of conditional probability - that false positives don't matter very much.

#4 grom, the asymptomatic cases are the false positives.

#5 ^You know that, I know that (though I'd add "some people are naturally immune"*). But beware the wrath of the "covid skeptics".

*True for every known pathogen - due to the fact that the immune system (sort of) recapitulates Darwinian variation/selection process.

#6 "Some" being 80% of the population it seems...

Tragic that this lockdown mistake is being continued.

#8 It's easy when you can do maths, something it seems medics have forgotten.

#9 Good thing these tests aren't being used to justify state policy, outlaw certain businesses, and incarcerate people.
