#1 "veered sharply from its planned course and toward civilian sites"

I wonder if they can make a JDAM kit that diverts and homes in on the jammers? Of course, blowing up mosques is not very good PR.

#2 The jammers themselves are probably small, unmanned and fairly cheap. They also surround lots of the Iranian nuclear facilities.

#3 OK, then - back to the big dumb BLU bombs for the Iranians

#4 Some of weapons do have a Home On Jam ability (this is public information, not classified), though I don't know if JDAM does (it's made by Brand X). The value of a HOJ mode depends on the target. If it's an airplane or ship, then hitting the jammer is just as good. If it's a ground target, it depends. If you put the jammer right on the building (or whatever), then I call it a Homing Beacon. But, if you put it a few hundred yards away, killing it won't kill the target.

Of course, if you're willing to expend enough ammunition, you simply hit the jammers first, then drop the big ones unmolested. Kind of a Wild Weasel approach. HARM would do this, but it's a bloody expensive weapon to take out a little transmitter.

If you use a nuclear weapon, then there is no problem with jammers. [wag]

#5 back in the drive to capture baghdad during the highly mis-labled 'shock and awe' campaign we destroyed all the deployed soviet gps jammers using jdam munitions. rummy had a press conference to poit out the irony that the jammers were destroyed with the technology they were trying to inhibit.

#6 Home on jam is fine even if the jammer is offset. I'm sure the Russians aren't donating the jammers for free. There will be a limited supply. JDAM technology has eliminated the necessity for carpet bombing so we have plenty in the tank.
