Ya think? This guy shouldn't walk away from this ever. If his friends and support network dig deep into India's ongoing cases that's a fair point.
India has to watch their own cases and procedures

But if you let him walk you are guaranteed to have people work outside India to bring him to justice, screwing up your cases with no say
Might as well do both rather than neither
