#2 I would actual translate the various numbers given in this one article alone as No more accurate than "a lot of f*ing people," American Delight. Crowd estimation is a notoriously difficult skill when trained people are working from overhead photos, as our own Old Patriot can attest. Even in the U.S., crowd estimates seem to vary by an order or two of magnitude, for instance between MoveOn.org and the National Park service for a rally on the Mall in Washington, DC. Arabs have a different concept of the absoluteness of numbers anyway, so...
