#1 to bear the burden and let the most fortunate among us off the hook," the vice president said

I never understood the logic these people have regarding taxing the wealthy or those who are well off in order to pay for everything (and everyone it seems) else. Simply put has no one ever explained to folks like Biden about the simple item that those with money can simply move elsewhere?

Its very simple and follows the theory of least resistance (you know the same principle that applies to electric currents and water flow?). If I have lots of money I will go to where I am taxed least or able to get the most gain from my investment. Increases in taxes just makes those that have the money want to move sooner, witness california and the flight so many major corporations.

Valentine, I've been in Facebook discussions with Progressives, and they really don't grasp that. It's a "What? and leave show business?!?" reaction. Since they would never move, therefore rich people also wouldn't. They also don't understand the post-Katrina refusal of poor New Orleansers to move back from the undreamt of opportunities of Texas.

#3 It's equally fascinating to listen to them play the 'soak the rich' line when the exploding elements of the federal deficit/expenditures are Social Security and Medicare which are suppose to be funded by FICA payroll taxes.

#5 Yet more class warfare from the DemocRATs - how unsuprising.

Equal Outcome as opposed to Equal Opprotunity.

Its because progressives moral compass is set by guys like Bono who simply wouldn't do such a think as leave his beloved Ireland to seek a more tax friendly haven.
Oh wait, Bono still wants to carry the IRE passport, but his money "tans" elsewhere. He has a fabulous home in the South of France just a few train stops from Monoco, known internationally as "... a sunny place for shady people".

#8 Democrats are composed of the poor, and the super wealthy. They never really talk about soaking wealth, just income, to ensure those from old money aren't taxed too badly. Most of the tax the rich is just red meat for the poor and the Marxists.

They are not about building people up, they are about tearing things down. Marxism has always been that way. It's a childish philosphy.

#9 We're from the government and we are here to help.

This is simple economics. The people that can afford wizbang accountants have the wealth mobility to move it offshore. Companies that feel the pinch will move elsewhere. Guess who is left? (Hint, 70% of Americans)

The middle class will always be screwed in a tax increase, no matter who it is aimed at. We produce the most, consume the most and play the most. Any tax rise anywhere will be passed onto us either through higher costs or less job opportunity that shoves more people out of the middle class bracket as now they are unemployed and broke.

You want to save the middle class? Get out of business's way, eliminate anti-business regulations and cut the size of the government. Start with the EPA and the DOE. That right there would stop spooking large and small business men and women right there. Add a 4 year freeze to the capital gains tax (or even better, a cut) and you will see hiring start up again. Kill Obamacare and suddenly people will be a lot more optimistic about the future and start spending/hiring.

Of course.... that means the dhimocrats and their cronies will lose power if this happens.

FICA is for Social Security. There is a separate Medicare tax withholding. Both are limited by an income cap. Congress can easily remove the cap, taxing all earned income at the same rate. For that matter Congress could easily apply those taxes to capital gains, to bank accounts, or to other property.
When TSHTF, the government will secure its funding by any means possible. The hour is approaching, just when I can't say. When it happens, the 'experts' will say it was 'never expected.'
Whenever I hear a pol talk about 'Saving the US middle class', I smell BS.

#11 No, they do not explain that to Casey Joe Biden. He is a salesman. Salesmen are told how great the product is. Notice he has little to say, other than nose hair in ice cream which is, by the way, a big f@kn deal.

At some point during stage 3 collectivism, basically godless feudalism (or uninspired authoritarianism), people are allowed in, they just are not allowed to leave. Think Hotel California with funeral fugues.

#12 Unfortunately for most of us, the Democrats habitually talk about taxing the "rich" and when you read the tax code and determine what they defined as rich is anyone making more than $200K a year gross income. The middle class has been down graded by the Democrats to mean anyone between the poverty line and $50K a year gross income.

The problem is the math. In order to pay down the $1.3 trillion deficit in this years budget, the entire assets, house, dog, wife, car, stocks, bonds, furniture and 100% of the income of all people making more than $200K a year would have to be confiscated. To pay down the total anticipated debt of $14.3 trillion you would have to do the same confiscation of assets and income of all people down to the poverty level.

The Democrats constantly talk about taxing the rich. Then they soak the middle class and the upper middle class and give their rich constituents tax breaks, loop holes and exemptions to reduce their tax burden (which explains why the Dems have exceptionally wealthy people supporting their causes).

#13 In collectivism the middle class must be reduced and heavily controlled.

They say and mean millionaire like it meant during the 80's. Except it is 30 years later.

They only way, and I mean the only way, the rich can look the other way is they have figured out a way to avoid this confiscation as much as possible, and those in washington who get to write the rules; otherwise known as cheating. They can promise comfy chairs to those who play along.

So not only are they downgrading what wealthy is, from 250k to 200k, it will be ground by inflation and increased property taxes (as people run out of money to spend therefore leading to fewer employees aka income tax what will be left is property).

So while idjits begin to realize that creating a partially working Euro style social collective in the US without the contributing resources of the US is a snake eating its own ass it will be interesting to see if washington is going to save their phoney bologna jobs or cash chips and buy yachts. Its too bad we have a president who...oh sorry gotta go, calling my name for tee-off.

#14 Many years ago People did a cover story on Catherine Zeta & Hubby.

It stated they spend most of their time in Bermuda?

Wouldn't that be a tax-free haven?

Then I bought another rag last week about anorexic stars - disgusting, btw.

7 own private islands

Dep, Cage, DiCaprio Gibson Murphy - the other was Shakira

don't think she's an American.

So I wonder again

Tax free?

Where's their home base?
