#1 misleading headline watch. Hillary didnt write the platform, and isnt responsible for everything in it.

and Zogby's push poll means nothing.

This was a place full of activists. If Tasini couldnt must support here, he doesnt stand a chance in the primary, where far fewer even know who he is.

#2 She voted for the war and continues to support it because most of America supports it, plain and simple. If she is one thing she is very savy when it comes to understanding the polls and the public. She may walk the fence on this to make nice with the old Dems but until America stops supporting the war her opinion will go to where the votes are, like an old whore goes to money.

#3 Very accurate headline. That's the platform Hill's running on. Her suooprt in the Democrat party is eroding faster than a New Orleans levee. The '68ers have great moral clarity and an emminently defeatable instinct. They may be in the minority for the next 20 years.

#4 It does show that the Democratic Party really doesn't believe in the Constitution only in attaining and exercising power. All those Kos Kiddies ignore that Congress authorized the action and continues to fund it.

#5 Check out Tasini's website. Compared to him, she looks like Reagan. She could win this in her sleep, since I doubt even New York is that far gone. Shit, even Mars isn't that far gone...

#6 "Stand with me as we put pressure on both the administration and the new Iraqi government to get behind a real plan for the Iraqis to assume a growing responsibility for their own security and safety so that we can begin to bring our troops home."

What plan would that be? Typical, high on rhetoric, no plan.

Actually, the rest of the speech is pretty good triangulation. She has to go left just far enough. Remember how Mother Cindy said after her meeting with Hillary that, Hillary will be on our side when the time is right....

What mother Cindy failed to understand is, she will also go the other way when the time is wrong...

#7 And remember, kids, what's important about war is keeping your poll numbers up. Like, what other purpose could there be except political gain?

#8 What someone needs to do is get names and photos (where available) of all the Iraqi Army and Police that have been killed and all the men killed while trying to join those organizations and make a collage of them with words supporting their quest for freedom and thanking the US for the opportunity from other Iraqis. The final quote should ask "Have our sacrifices been in vain?"

It would be a great tool both in NY and nationally.

#9 " That's the platform Hill's running on. "

shes running on her record. The NYS Demo party convention can vote whatever the hell they want. Its a scrap of paper.

#12 LH, not to be difficult or anything (it's Rantburg, after all ;-) but if the platform is just a scrap of paper, why bother?

I understand that virtually every candidate has one problem or another with his/her party's platform. Some platforms are clearly written by borons and morons (see Dave D's discussion elsewhere for definitions).

But this is a key issue, and Hillary is the flagship candidate this fall. And she can't control the platform? What does that say about her clout in her own (er, adopted) state?
