#2 I predict this will have zero impact on the drug trade, since the consumer demand still exists it will just be a matter of new distribution being worked out.

And just wait until the tens of millions of newly middle-class Chinese and Indians start getting into the whole recreational drug-use thing, and conveniently the country which provides 90% of the worlds Heroin is located next to both of them!

As long as the demand is there, the invisible hand will ensure that someone makes a profit from it, legal or not. Prohibited goods always sell for a pretty penny, far above their actual production cost.

Given that the local version of Suudafed (Pseeudoepheedrine HCl) is easily available OTC in China for roughly 40 cents a pack, I suspect there's a thriving local supply of meeth available locally. Nobody's going to suspect a meeth lab in a country where visible pollution is pretty much everywhere.

Actually, a quick google shows I was right:

consider that a gram of meeth in China costs six dollars U.S. Compare that with a hundred to three hundred per gram in the U.S. and Canada.

Who needs heroin when meeth is available for next to nothing, and you don't have to deal with scary looking needles?
